The birth is over, your baby is finally here — but your own body still has a lot to go through. Recovery can look very different from one person to another. Some feel pretty okay early on, others need more time and support. Everything is normal.
Here are a few gentle reminders for your postpartum journey:
🤍 Rest
Easier said than done — we know. But try to rest when you can. Let someone else do the laundry or cooking. Just lying down can help the body heal faster.
🤍 Nourish yourself
You’ve just done something enormous. Your body needs fuel. Keep snacks and water close, and try to eat regularly. Bonus: it helps your digestion and energy levels too.
🤍 Care for your body
If you’ve had a vaginal birth, it’s common to feel sore, swollen or sensitive. Use cooling sprays, sitz baths, peri bottles or anything else that brings comfort. Listen to your body.
🤍 Let your feelings come
The emotional rollercoaster is real. Hormones, lack of sleep, a new identity — it’s a lot. Cry if you need to. Laugh when you can. Talk to someone. You’re not alone.
🤍 Ask for help
Really. You don’t need to handle everything on your own. Whether it’s a friend bringing food or a midwife answering questions — reach out. You’re worthy of support.
In summary:
Taking care of a baby is big. But so is taking care of you. And both matter just as much.
